Can anyone help identify this font used in the trailer for Alfred Hitchcock’s NORTH BY NORTHWEST? I have the feeling it’s a handmade font because if you copy and superimpose the NORTH over the NORTHWEST, the same characters don’t match. It’s similar to FRANKLIN GOTHIC CONDENSED, which was used for the movie’s actual main titles. I found a similar example in an old 50s horror movie trailer (see ‘EVOLUTION REVERSED’), but the ‘S’ is different. Any help would be much appreciated. I’m in the process of recreating the font if it doesn’t exist.

Like many title cards from that era, this is hand lettered, not typed with a font.
