Hey guys,

I have a specific question that I thought you guys may be helpful with :)

I am looking for a condensed typeface like the JACQUEMUS logo but with a cursive/script kind of cut to it. So a normal condensed version and an italic version of this one. Do you know any typefaces that are similar to the JACQUEMUS one and have that feature? An inspiration is also the MUJI Diner logo (attached), I like the combination of the condensed sans serif with the more elegant cut next to it. Maybe you know something that is similar :)

Also, do you know if there is a typeface that is similar to the BRAUN logo but maybe a bit more in the JACQUEMUS direction? I am asking this because I love both BRAUN and JACQUEMUS logo typefaces and I am looking for a mixture of both for a personal project of mine.

Thank you if you have any tips for me!

Best regards,
Nico

Hi Nico. There are many typefaces we could recommend. First, let's narrow your scope. These are both constructed/geometric, monolinear, condensed sans serifs, but then they depart. The main difference between the two styles is that the Jacquemus logo has half-circle tops and bottoms on its curved glyphs, while the Braun logo has flat tops and bottoms. Which do you prefer?

Hi Stewf!

thank you so much for your effort. It is hard to say, I think the flat tops from BRAUN may be more unique while the JACQUEMUS rounded ones may look more modern. I think its very hard to decide on that. I need to see the full typeface. Thank you so much for your help.

Jacquemus: The awkwardness of these forms indicates that they come from pure geometry, or from a template such as Plaque Découpée Universelle, a stencil system patented by Joseph A. David in 1876. Dries Wiewauters’ PDU is based directly on letters drawn from that stencil. It’s not a match for this sample, but it’s close. See also Garaje and Normal Bold. That said, given that the font seems to lack kerning, it may not have that rigorous a process story. It’s likely a freebie by an amateur.

Braun: This logo is an example of custom lettering, not a typeface. As far as I know, no font was developed before the logo was drawn. (Though perhaps at some point Braun, or someone else, made a typeface based on the logo’s letters.) For available fonts in this style, see Kunst, Refrigerator, and my own WPA Gothic.

Finally, Komu offers a single type family with two variants: flat curves, and round ones, so you can have both styles!

Dear Stewf!

Thank you so much for these options! I will check them all and come back to you soon! Normal Bold looks very promising.

Best, Nico.
