Open All Hours

There was a much-loved long-running TV comedy series in the UK called Open All Hours, about a small town corner shop. I've just been given the job of making a model of it, to go with a model railway. The thing is, I'm struggling to find the correct typefaces for the sign above the shop.

Here's a picture of the real thing. My best-guess for the san-serif typeface is something like Lucida Sans, and the decorative typeface is something similar to Algerian. But neither seem quite right.

Any ideas and suggestion gratefully received.

What a great project! Hand-painted signs like these usually don’t use typefaces, they are custom lettering. I would advise hiring a lettering artist or sign painter to assist you.

For Arkwright, Hessian is vaguely similar, as is Lynchburg.
