I am a Font ID newbie... and not a designer... but I love design and typography. So happy to learn about the site and community and be a part of things. I am working on a classic school sweatshirt project for fun, and I would be indebted if someone could help me identify the classic-looking font on these images of sweatshirts.

Hi Ryan! Welcome. This octagonal slab-serif style, sometimes called "collegiate" or "athletic" is very common on jerseys, letterman jackets, and other school branding in the US. The letters go back to the early 20th century when hand-cut or pattern-cut letters made of flannel and other materials were stitched or otherwise applied to apparel. For this reason. sometimes there is no exact match among digital fonts.

This one is similar to Yearbook.
