Lower case sans serif typeface used in the cover of "Animal Nitrate", an early single by the British band Suede.

It’s hard to be exact with these generic letters. But it looks like a Neue Helvetica Condensed Bold slightly further artificially condensed. Try typefaces as Impact, Compacta, Akzidenz Grotesk Condensed etc., too …

I'll take it a step further to suggest that it might be BItstream’s version of Helvetica, Swiss 721 Black Condensed.
