font in a 1960s edition of “Welcome to the Monkey House” by Kurt Vonnegut

i know there's a more commonly used variant of this font and am also interested in what that is, but this seems a bit different (possibly because it's older?)

If this is about the cover typeface of Dell’s paperback edition, that would be Twentieth Century Ultra Bold. It’s similar to Futura Extra Bold – to the extent that it’s sometimes mislabeled. There are digital versions under the original name and also as Futura No. 2.
